Understand CONATUS Training

More Than a Strength & Conditioning Company

CONATUS was built on a simple idea: the people who protect, serve, and lead others deserve training that’s built specifically for the demands of their profession.

Too many programs focus on looking fit instead of becoming capable. CONATUS takes a different approach by combining evidence-based strength and conditioning with real-world experience to help military personnel, first responders, tactical athletes, and everyday competitors prepare for what’s ahead.

Coaching Philosophy

Learn Basics, Master Fundamentals

There isn’t a shortcut to lasting performance.

The strongest athletes aren’t always the ones doing the most complicated workouts. They’re the ones who consistently master the fundamentals, move well, recover well, and continue building over time.

At CONATUS, every program starts with a strong foundation before progressing toward more advanced training. That philosophy creates athletes who aren’t just stronger today, but more durable for years to come.

Jake’s Journey

Experience That Shaped CONATUS

Where It Started

Jake’s coaching career began in 2014 with an internship at UCLA Athletic Performance before continuing through private performance facilities and high school athletics throughout Los Angeles. Those early years built the coaching philosophy that still guides CONATUS today.

Working with athletes at every stage reinforced one simple lesson: long-term success comes from mastering the fundamentals before chasing performance.

Building The Foundation

After UCLA, Jake spent several years coaching in private performance facilities and high school settings throughout Los Angeles. Working with athletes across different sports, ability levels and performance goals gave him years of hands-on experience applying strength and conditioning principles outside of a collegiate environment.

Those years helped shape the adaptable, outcome-based approach he uses today. The setting and athlete may change, but the process remains the same: understand the desired outcome, identify the starting point and build a training plan around proven principles that move the athlete toward that goal.

Preparing Firefighters for the Job

As the Strength & Conditioning Coach at the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Del Valle Recruit Training Center, Jake prepared firefighter recruits for the physical demands of academy training and the realities of the fire service.

His focus wasn’t simply passing a fitness test. It was helping recruits build the strength, endurance, and durability needed for a career where performance matters every day.

Coaching Where Performance Matters Most

Jake currently coaches soldiers assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division, working directly with Cavalry Scouts and multiple Infantry Battalions to develop physical training around the demands of their missions.

His role goes beyond writing workouts. Jake attends ranges and training briefs, works alongside unit leadership and provides educational briefings that help connect physical preparation to operational performance.

That day-to-day involvement gives Jake a firsthand understanding of what soldiers are being asked to do and allows training to be built around the actual demands they face.

 Helping Others Return Stronger

Performance isn’t only about preparing for what’s next. Sometimes it’s about rebuilding after injury.

Working alongside Physical Therapists, Athletic Trainers, and Occupational Therapists, Jake helped injured soldiers restore strength, rebuild confidence, and safely return to duty following traumatic brain injuries and other service-related injuries.

That experience continues to influence every recommendation made through CONATUS today.

The Difference

Why Professionals Choose CONATUS

Training is easy to find. Coaching is harder.

If you’re purchasing a self-guided training program or working one-on-one with Jake, every recommendation is rooted in practical experience, long-term development, and honest coaching.

The goal has never been to create the hardest workout. The goal is to build stronger, healthier, and more capable people who are ready for whatever challenge comes next.
